sab is breaking files

Post by gohamstergo »

sabnzbd 0.7.16 - Windows 7

Not sure exactly when it started, perhaps the last few days or week I'm not sure, but Sab refuses to download complete versions of pretty much any file (rar, par2, etc). I'm sure the nzb I'm importing is good and complete, because after this kept happening, I put the same NZB into GrabIt, and it downloaded everything perfectly (using the same usenet server for both programs).

When I load the nzb into Sab and click on it to view the individual files, I can see, for example, that every rar is ~104mb, but when the download is "complete" and I check the file manually, it has only downloaded ~90mb. Checking with QuickPar confirmed that tons of blocks are missing. Way too many to attempt repair.

Please tell me what other info you need to help solve this, or if I'm simply overlooking something. I'll post a link the the NZB I'm using if someone wants, I just wasn't sure of the legality blah blah. Same thing happens on 90% of NZBs I've tried on the past few days, though. So I'm highly doubting it's specific to that.

Thanks.

If you're absolutely sure that another program successfully downloads the material from the same Usenet provider
while SABnzbd does not, please email an example NZB file to bugs@sabnzbd.org (and include the URL of this message).

ok will do. i even did a fresh install of sab and wiped settings, same problem. will get that email sent.

edit: i should note that it seems like Sab has no problem with newer files as they seem to download fine. only seems to have issues with older stuff. but again, GrabIt is still able to complete the download. Thanks!

You didn't set a retention date in Config->Servers, did you?

Nothing special with the NZB that you sent me.
Downloads and unpacks fine, using Astraweb and Supernews.
Which Usenet provider do you use?

i used 91.223.220.236 listed on http://www.appelboor.com/newsserver.html for both my Sab and Grabit test. Strange :\

Try with Config->Switches->"Send Group" enabled.
Use a longer time-out in Config->Servers. What's your current time-out?

timeout currently 120 seconds. even if it were timing out, why would sab think the download was complete and not try to d/l from another server? (i have a few but sab usually just uses the 91.xx one because it maxes my connection by itself.

i also enabled Send Group just now. traveling, but will test same nzb again when back home next week. Thanks for the help. will let you know

I don't see any movement on this topic but I thought I'd post my findings as I am having the same trouble as the original poster. I had the exact same problem. I followed the suggestions of the admin and my problem is solved. I am able to download complete nzb files which I was not able to do before in SABnzbd. I still don't understand what was happening or why the posted suggestions would make a difference, but they did. Everything is functional again. Thanks!

When you enabled "Send Group" and it worked, then the explanation is simple.
You are using a Usenet server that runs on rather outdated software.
Very few Usenet providers require the "Send Group" option.
