Downloads stopping for no reason

I have this issue that happens from time to time. Downloads just stop sometimes only for a few minutes sometimes for a few hours.

Can anyone advise why and how I can fix it?

Astraweb and Vista.

My son who has Windows 7 also gets the same error.

He solves it by closing the window and reopening I managed to solve it by restarting my PC!

Seems a bit of an extreme solution though.

Personally I get mixed results with Astraweb.
"Closing the window", is that the browser window or do you stop the actual app?

Astraweb sucks. There rise to fame was always because they had some Top Tier retention for the cheapest price. A lot has changed in the past 4-5 years ago. Since this post was made on Sunday I'm assuming you're in the Sunday Night Hell Hole. Apparently they have NO staff that works on Sunday's and to this day nobody knows why Astraweb is excruciatingly slow on Sundays. This is most notable around 7pm-10pm give or take a few hours either way. Service in general I find was always shakiest on Sundays, not just in the evenings which are god awful. Astraweb blames ISP's throttling and others have said their ISP was not throttling them. There are no answers as this has been going on for at least 3 years that I recall.

I'd try another provider and see if that changes things.
