Download speed decreases after initial start-up

Hello there,

nzbd novice here so any help would be hugely appreciated.
I'm using SABnzbd on iMac - whenever I go to download a file, it always starts off at around 4.5 MB/s for about a minute or so, then drops down to around 1.4 MB/s
Can anyone offer any suggestions as to why it might be doing this? Is this possibly an internet restriction or something like that?

You use Virginmedia ... so have you read https://forums.sabnzbd.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=8866
