Only way to download is to use queue repair

Post by poizun »

I did a quick search and didn't see anything like this, so I thought I'd start a new topic.

For the past 4 or 5 months, my sabnzbd has been acting a little funny. Things would get queued up just fine either manually or by other apps (sb, cp, etc), but they don't download.

It's not like it's paused or anything like that, especially since hitting pause/unpause does absolutely nothing. It's just stuck 'downloading' at 0kbps. Now at first you'd think that it's a retention or takedown issue, but if I go to Queue Repair and just hit the repair button, things work out just fine. After sab restarts, I can unpause and continue downloading. Now, it continues to download for a few hours and then gets stuck again.

Any ideas why this keeps happening?

What exactly (codewise) is repairing the queue anyway? What would cause that to 'fix' this issue?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Just an update:

I fixed my issue through a quick look at the log files. Apparently, every time Sab started up, it attempts to take ownership of the incomplete folder. Even though it can successfully write to it, I guess since it didn't own it, things wouldn't work properly. This is more of a permissions issue per the user running Sab, so once that was fixed, I've had no issues.

TLDR; check the log files and the permissions of the complete/incomplete folders.

Good that it solved for you.
However, SABnzbd doesn't attempt to take ownership.
It may try to adjust access rights when you have a permissions setting in Config->Folders.
If current ownership of the base incomplete folder doesn't allow SABnzbd to adjust access rights, then there maybe an issue.
Still, you didn't get errors and warnings?
