Hi there,
Since 1 week i upgraded my internet connection from 100 to 600mb.
With my 100mb connection i could reach maximum speed, but since i upgraded my connection sabnzbd maxes out around 150mb.
I tested after that with NZBGET, with NZBGET i reached around 600mb.
Is it possible to config sabnzbd so it will reach same speed.
Using an intel i5 2300 processor and have 12gb of ram installed.
Cache limit is set to 1000M
CAn anyone help me out, or is sabnzbd not designed to reach such speeds?

Re: Can't reach maximum speed with SABNZBD
Interesting ... as in: what's the maximum speed SABnzbd can achieve?
If you have SSL turned on for your newsserver, turn it off, and check the speed again.
Otherwise I assume all test conditions are the same: same newsserver, same number of connections, etc.

Re: Can't reach maximum speed with SABNZBD
With or without SSL didnt make any differnce, i'm not sure if sabnzb is desigend for such speeds. To bad because i really like the program

Probably not, but I haven't been in a position to test it.RobinM wrote:i'm not sure if sabnzb is desigend for such speeds.
Re: Can't reach maximum speed with SABNZBD
i can provide a test environment if wanted, let me know:)
Re: Can't reach maximum speed with SABNZBD
You have already tested and shown what the maximum speed is
Maybe you can experiment a bit with the amount of connections (increase).
Also make sure you have a sizeable article cache in Config->General.

Re: Can't reach maximum speed with SABNZBD
Tested it with 20 till 50 connections, didnt make much difference. My cache limit is 1000M, so this should be more then enough. Witn nzbget i reached maximum speed without any further config.
Re: Can't reach maximum speed with SABNZBD
Yeah, C++ versus Python.
Re: Can't reach maximum speed with SABNZBD
iirc there's a throttling mechanism in sab that you may hit at very high speed, based on a maximum size of an (internal) article decoding queue. And then there's the inefficiencies of the python interpreter...
Re: Can't reach maximum speed with SABNZBD
Would you see that by a high / 100% CPU load?jcfp wrote:And then there's the inefficiencies of the python interpreter...
Re: Can't reach maximum speed with SABNZBD
in my case my cpu is not maxed out.
SAB max speed seems to be around 16-17megabyte per second. Smaller files have reached higher speeds (1gb):
