can't download with one specific server.

frugleusenet is working fine in alt.binz. but it is not working in sabnzb. i try to download with check and uncheack the "Check before download" option. the other news server is working fine with sabnzbd.

I Have the same problem . using latest version (0.7.7). The Downloads are "stuck" bu I can downlaod with Pan.

I restart several times but no good. I then disabled my backup server (blocknews) and all good.

What happens when you enable the backup server, but disable pre-download checks?

It was working before. One odd thing was in status - connections, I had the 15 connections to my backup server after restart (the limit was 15). I will try with that option disabled.

i'v already tried. it's not working with the frugleusenet. i think frugleusenet isn't working with "Check before download" feature enabled. when i disabled it . everything is fine. can you tell me how to fix this thing . i really want to enable "Check before download" feature. my other usenet server is working with this feature. so obvious question is why it's not working with frugleusenet. ?

It's very likely the server hasn't properly implemented one of the basic Usenet features, called "STAT".
Starting with 0.8.0, the pre-download check will be redesigned altogether,
we hope that this will work with all (most?) servers.

I recently switched to frugal and have been pulling my hair out with this...

Most of my downloads just sit there. I've tried with pre-check on and off, SSL, no-SSL, send group, just about every option I can think of. The downloads just sit there. I show connections, but it's like nothing it happening with them.

I don't see anything in the logs or debugging either.

The same nzb will work just fine with Binreader though.

It's not *all* downloads either, but it seems to be most.

Can I request (Since it's going to be a huge update & loads of classes will break, so, why not break them oh so slightly more?) that we can state how many connections we'd like for checking and how many we'd like for downloading (E.G. my usenet provider issues me 20 connections, however, 4 connections max my internet out, so, why use the other 16? I'd use to use those 16 for checking, however, only 4 for downloading) and the ability to pre-check the next download just as the current download is finishing (For example, when the current download has 10 minutes left, start checking the next download so that there's no downtime downloading. There's probably a better way (Estimate the time it'll take to check the next file then verify it when it has that much longer left on the current download/etc), but, I can't really think of one).

The above is probably really poorly explained, sorry. I also only note this because you said you're redesigning the pre-download check, might as well put in my requests.

0.7.9 should work with non-conforming servers.
We're not going to treat pre-check different from just downloading.
In fact, it's the exact same process (but without the data).
If you don't have a very low quota, I recommend to using the new option
"abort when job cannot be completed".
This way, posts that have been removed will be detected within 20% of the time you would otherwise need.
(It doesn't work for posts that are nearly complete.)

I have several configured servers. Both options appear to inform me of missing articles, the former does so much sooner, but from what I understand, fails the download if 1% is deemed to be unavailable? What about PAR's?

I've used Frugal as my main server and always had a problem with pre-download check. Even with 0.7.9 I find the same issue. Sometimes SAB with just get stuck checking and this will continue until I turn off checking and delete the NZB. A restart will not fix the problem, the NZB must be deleted. There is something between Frugal and SAB that doesn't play well together with checking turned on.
