developers: how to create own nntp server
I want to create my own local nntp server for fun (it will be a local server not connected to the internet), so that I can run some speed tests of a few nzb download programs. I looked online but couldn't find any easy guide or software. How to the developers test SABnzbd, they must run their own? Does anyone know of any software? Preferably for Windows.
Re: developers: how to create own nntp server
With a lot of trouble I set up an inn2 server on Ubuntu.
I didn't keep notes, so I cannot really tell you how to do it.
There isn't a lot of quality software available: inn2 and leafnode.
For Windows and OSX it's even worse.
Most Usenet server software is highly specialized, optimized and expensive; targeted for commercial providers.

Ok thanks for the info. Have you looked into Apache James? It appears to have an nntp server
