Check your connection in Status and Interface settings window.
Use Test Server in Config > Servers.

Download folder size is wrong
Today I updated to 0.7.4 and noticed that I didn't have enough room to extract the download on my computer (quiete a big file 50gb). But as I removed things from my computer the number of free space showed by sabnzb stayed the same. I did a restart but the number stayed the same. I'm running Mac OS X Mountain Lion.

It's very likely that OSX is just slow in reporting free space.
When I use OSX itself to tell me the free space it's always the same as what SABnzbd reports.
It usually takes a while to show up.
BTW: did you also empty the Trash can?
