Possible to download/extract to several preset folders

Post by vincentb1980 »

Hi,

First a brief explanation about my situation.

I have 2 devices:
1. NAS
2. Popcorn hour C200 (media player)

I have sabnzb installed on the NAS.
On the NAS I have setup a mount to the popcorn hour.

What I would like to do is in some cases download and extract locally (e.g. for TV series) and in some cases (movies) I would like to download locally and then EXTRACT to the mounted popcorn hour.

Of course it's possible to setup the extract directory to one or the other, however is it somehow possible to determine this per download?

Many thanks,
Vincent

P.S. SABNZBD rocks!

How are you doing your downloads? Manually or through rss? I do almost everything through rss feeds and apply categories to the individual feeds. So, one rss feed per TV series, and the category sets the individual folder where each series ends up.

I should also note that if you're just doing individual manual downloads you can apply categories manually after the download has started.

Thanks! To be honest I had not paid attention to the categories yet (I'm a fairly new user).. I have now created a category for my mediaplayer with folder/path referring to the mounted folder.

Could somebody confirm that download and extraction will still take place in the temporary folder (which I set locally) and then copied to the mounted folder?

Yes, the download will still go to the "temporary download folder" set under the folder settings area. I believe the unpacking of rar files takes place directly from this temporary area and the "extracted" file(s) are written directly to the path you've set in your category. You can see most of this activity by checking log files (Status -> Show Logging).

A couple other things that took me a while to find out that you might find useful -

1. If you're using categories to move things to subfolders like I am, you might not want additional subfolder created for each job. In this case just append "*" to the end of your path set for each category.
2. Automatically get rid of extra files you don't want from the download such as .nfo, .sfv, .par, .srr, nzb, srt, .par2, etc by adding these extensions under General -> Tuning -> Cleanup List.

Thanks for your help Whitesoxwin.. My mount doesn't seem to be very stable (problem with either the NAS or the mediaplayer) so I'll play around a bit..

No problem. I haven't tried running SABnzbd on a NAS. Hope you can get it working reliably. Don't know much about the Popcorn Hour. Why is the mount necessary? Cant you use a UNC path to the popcorn hour share?
