"Max Speed" Setting not sticking

Post by royalnewjersey »

Hey Guys,

I'm running sabnzbd version 0.7.3 on osx 10.7.4 and I'm having a weird download speed issue.

I have read that leaving your max speed at 0 (infinite) can cause network issues, specifically tanking your network for any others trying to access media or streaming. The theory is that sabnzbd will take up all of the bandwidth to try and download files as fast as possible with no regard for anything else. I don't know how "true" this is, but I would rather be safe than sorry.

I had my "Max Speed' set at 1500KB/s which translates to 1.5MB/s download speed. Since I had a connection speed of 16-20mb/s I wanted to cap my download speed below that. Since then, I've changed network providers and I'm regularly pulling 30-50mb/s download speed, so it makes sense for me to up my "Max Speed". But every time I change it and click save to something else (IE: 2500KB/s) It works for a period of time before it resets itself. It seems to be after a system restart, or sab restart, but when I check again, the speed is set back down to 1500KB/s.... It's almost as if it remembers the "Max Speed" setting until I restart, at which point it defaults back to the 1500kb/s I originally set, like there's some broken preference file somewhere it's loading from.

Any ideas how to fix? Where is this preference set on my computer, is there a specific file that controls it like a .plist or .info or something? I'm just not sure why it keeps reverting back.

Any help appreciated.

The speed you set on the front page is temporary.
You can set a permanent speed limit in Config->General.
