Please help a newbie

Post by baron blood »

Hello,
This is my first post here.

For about a month I was using SABnzbd on my computer with Windows Vista until today.
Today when I tried to open SABnzbd instead of opening the program A google page popped up with results from a google search.
???

I have no idea what's going on.

So I thought that re-intalling would fix the problem...

Well now I have a new problem.
When I try to open SABnzbd it asks (as usual) my username and password but now it rejects what my computer stored.

Is there some place where I can confirm my username and password or do I have to create a new one?
If I have to create a new one...how?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Which OS?

#Password: Stop SABnzbd, find the file sabnzbd.ini (check out http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/faq#toc18 ), delete it, start SABnzbd.

If SABnzbd is running, the Windows System Tray should have the yellow SABnzbd symbol.
Click it and go to the menu entry Troubleshoot->"Restart - no login".

Thanks for the replies, guys.

I don't know what an "os" means but if it's a server what I get when I try to open the yellow icon on my desktop is "the server localhost at SABnzbd requires a username and password" when my computer pops up the window filled with the information I clicked enter (or ok) and I get rejected.

Now I did as ShyP suggested and opened SAB up with the little icon at the bottom tray and trying each option I got SAB to open.

However the NZB that I opened with SAB is not downloading.

I checked my SAB connections and my server is free.xsusenet.com.
It's "enabled" but connections says "0"
???

Does it say 0 in Config->Servers?
If so, change it to 4.

The retention is OK, it means: don't check.
Do you see any progress?
How old are the NZB-s?
The server you are using has a very low retention time.
Hover the mouse over the title. Do you see it show "xxx missing articles"?

I REALLY appreciate your help, ShyP.

When I try to test the server I get "482 Authentication rejected"

Then when I hovered over the download it said...
Status--downloading
Age--3D
Missing Articles--1

There's been no progress.

Well, the error message says it all.
The Usenet server does not accept your user-id and password.
Please double-check.
