Hi there,
I am encountering an error in sabnzbd – following which movies don’t get added to the queue. The error message says that sabnzbd is having problems fetching messages from www.newzbin.com. Namely “check your username and password”. I have reset my username and password in the sabnzbd Config/Servers interface and I have re-logged on to Newzbin – it doesn’t make any difference. I don’t understand what has happened. It’s as if sabnzbd can’t talk to newzbin anymore… I didn’t even know sabnzbd actually connected to newzbin, since I am copying the movies id from newzbin into sabnzbd myself and this always worked fine.
I have installed a IE update and SP3 for XP recently, and then I started having connection problems: I reset the port to 23 in sabnzbd and then it could connect again. But now I get the abovementioned error…
I am set up as follows: I have a (pay-for) account at giganews. This is the username and password I use to set up the server in sabnzbd – it points to news-europe.giganews.com server.
I usually just browse http://www.newzbin.com/browse/category (for which I also have a pay-for account) and pick a movie and copy the ID into SABnzbd – now when I do this the movie doesn’t get added to the queue and I get the “check your username and password error” instead.
On another note, I have noticed that the sabnzbd.ini file “changes itself” regularly: I have set up my downloads to go to my e: drive (which is an external hard drive), but every time sabnzbd crashes, the file resets itself to point to downloads/incomplete & downloads/complete, instead of going to e:/downloads/incomplete & e:/downloads/complete – hence downloads fail. Is there a way to prevent that the file gets changed out of the blue by some underlying process?
Please help if you can I have spent too much already in trying to fix all these issues and I would really like to have it work normally as it should without further interferences. Many many thanks,
Marilyne

Re: movies not added to the queue
Which version are you using?
Some versions of SABnzbd have problems with storing passwords containing "#" or "," characters, please avoid these.
The INI file is written back to disk at startup and when changing the configuration from the UI.
It is not a read-only file.
The only reason I can think of why SABnzbd would "correct" the folder settings, is that
the folders do not exist and/or cannot be created.
Look through the log files for clues.
Make sure the external harddisk is active before starting SABnzbd.
From your description I get the impression that you forgot to set the username and password for Newzbin in the Config->Newzbin page.
Any access to Newzbin always requires username and password.
