Bouncing download Speeds

Post by funkcanna »

Hello,

For the last few days I have had a problem where download speeds are bouncing from zero to max constantly. Additionally, there are 2 other issues which started at the same time.

1) When a download is complete, it just stays in the download queue for sometimes up to an hour before it moves to the history queue and starts repairing etc.
2) Browsing the other pages in SAB grinds to a halt. Since the download speed bouncing began whenever I click on another page (Config, status and even the different tabs within the config page) the app just freezes for minutes before moving.

I have tried reinstalling SAB numerous times but the problem reoccurs. This started suddenly and without me making any changes.

I have tried downloading NZBs using other software (NZBVortex and Hogwasher) and the downloads are fine which limits this issue solely to SAB.

I am running SAB 0.7.3 on OS X Lion.

Like I said, this just suddenly started and I dont know why. Any help will be appreciated.

First of all, re-installing is rarely a solution.
Do you have multiple servers defined in Config->Servers?
What is the time out for the servers?

Hi Shypike thanks for the reply.

No, there is only one server set. The time out automatically set itself as 30 secs when I used the wizard to install.

30 is bit short for most servers. Most operators prefer you to use 60 sec.
Not sure if that's a true cause, although it can be when a server
is slow to respond when an article is missing.
You then get the situation where SABnbzd repeats its query before
the server has found out that an article is not present.
Other than that there's the usual advise to set an article cache in Config->General
(if not already set) and not to use WiFi.

I did that (changed timeout to 60) - article cache was already set at 200M. Same issue. Downloads that have taken ages to download are now finished (but the dl speed bouncing issue remains) and they are STILL stuck in the download queue at 100% complete, they havent moved to the history queue for unpacking/repairing etc.

Are there any files shown when you click on a stuck job?
If not, set the "priority" to "stop" to force post-processing.
If so, and there is very little, do the same.

This is what the screen looks like.

When I click the items, there is nothing shown in the progress table at all. I tried clicking stop on both but it just reverts to Normal.

You should be able to set the priority to "stop".
Click and keep the mouse button down and move down to select "stop".
Otherwise, just restart SABnzbd.
Before you do, can you email the NZB files of these jobs and the name of your Usenet provider
to bugs@sabnzbd.org ?

Yeah I did that, but when I click stop, it just pops back to normal. Very strange, nothing like this has ever happened in the years ive been using it!

The NZB files definitely arent the problem as they have downloaded fine with NZBVortex - my usenet provider is giganews. Ill pop an email soon.

Tried restarting and they are just sitting there in the download queue still!

Rigorous action is required.
Go to Status page, tab Queue Repair.
Click Repair button.

Hi, I repaired the queue. Same issue is present. This is really frustrating! Download speed still bounces and files stick in the Download queue for hours.

What happens if you just go back to 0.6.15?

Hi, I tried the 32bit fix today and it didnt change anything - same issues.

I havent had much time but will install an older version tomorrow and see if that does anything.
