An odd change and no clues, 100% CPU

Post by mashiara »

First, long time user, first time poster. I was on 0.7.1 and earlier with no issues, then upgraded and the wheels fell off.

I have a Core 2-2.5Ghz and reliably get 2+MB/s with no lag and no effect on the rest of my multitasking. Upgraded and system pegs to 100% CPU and I can't even shut down. Mouse virtually frozen, when I can get to task manager it's almost impossible to kill the task. I rolled back to 0.7.1 with no luck. Similar with 0.7.0

Not sure what to do here. Haven't installed any other software, scanned several times for malware/viruses. Everything else works fine, except sabnzbd. Love the program and would like to continue with it.

Sounds all a bit weird, but you never know.
One thing you can try:
Go to the Status page, go to the third tab, click the Repair button.

Okay, only had one thing in the queue. Not much change. Odd thing is that it happens 90% of the time in the last week, but not every time.

As long as downloads are paused, it doesn't frag the computer, as expected.

On a dual-core system, SABnzbd will never use more than 50% CPU time.
So it's a bit strange that your systems says 100%.

If it happens during post-processing: recently we've upgraded unrar.
If you're using a 64bit OS, you could disable 64bit par2 and unrar in Config->Switches.
Or replace the unrar binaries with those of release 0.6.15.

I am using dual core system but though it never uses 100% but have used more than 70% to 80% and make a reminder that "High CPU usage". It seems to me as a trouble. Because this warning is also given by my CPU when I am not using many programs together. This massage is shown mostly when I on the Turbo C.

Was this ever resolved? I am having same issue with 0.7.18 on a Toshiba Satellite P75-A running Windows 8.1.

Can you describe what is going on wrong your system.
Past experience shows that "same" issue is often not true, only superficially so.
