unpacking failed, archive demanding password

Post by ecmik »

Hi! I'm new to usenet, so bare with me.. :)

I get an error-message after unpacking a nzb-file. It says - unpacking failed, archive demanding password (translated from swedish). And to the right of the nzb-title a red skull is appearing instead of the black and white star. The same is happening again and again after hitting "retry".

Anyone who knows what has gone wrong?

Thanks for your help!

Yes, you fell victim to an encrypted post.
If you don't have the password, just delete the job.
There's an option in Config->Switches which will pause a job as soon as the first encrypted RAR file is complete.

Because the poster did this.
There are quite a lot of re-posters that post encrypted material
and then try to get you to visit obnoxious advertising websites before giving you a password (if at all).
Check the content of the job folder in the "temporary download folder".

Hi,
I hope it's okay that I'm hijacking this post...I have a similar problem with a password-protected download and searched the first 8 pages of forum posts with "password" in them, but this was the most pertinent thread, I believe.
Luckily, the poster lists the passwords on NZBMatrix, but I can't figure out how to get them into SABnzbd and to work.
Unfortunately, I didn't find out that it's better to enter the passwords before it finishes downloading and now it's in the "History" section and failed to unpack.
So...my problem is that I can't figure out how to apply the passwords to the downloaded file. Is that possible, or do I have to re-download it (hopefully not, since it's a relatively short TV series which took a really long time to complete)? If I have to re-download, how & where do I enter the passwords beforehand?
And I did read the wiki for password protected RARs (http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/password-protected-rars). If it's as simple as typing the passwords into a Notepad file and selecting the file under the "Folders" tab on Configurations, that'd be great. I tried that, but there was no "browse" button next to the box from which I could select the file. That's probably not right...
I hope this makes sense. I'm not extremely computer literate (my brother set this program up for me), but I do know just enough to get into trouble.
Thanks for any help you can give!
Audrey

Just type in the full path name in the box, there's no browse button.

That's ok. Maybe adding a browse button is good idea, I'll check it out.
