Hi there,
I've been using sabnzbd for quite some time now, but recently the download speed indication (as displayed in the titlebar of the web interface) is incorrect. Therefore also the time left is indicated incorrectly. It says hundreds-of-thousands days left with a download speed of 0-1kb/s. In fact it does download normally at 3Mb/s or something.
Before I used 0.6.15 for a few months, and yesterday I upgraded to 0.7.1, but that didn't help. Nothing has changed to my setup. sabnzbd runs on a Windows 7 Home machine and is connected directly to my router by cable.
Does anyone know how this download speed is calculated? Does sabnzbd do this by itself or does is maybe receive input from the router for this, or maybe from the newsserver? Anything to help me try and find the problem...

Re: Download speed indication incorrect
See here: https://forums.sabnzbd.org/viewtopic.ph ... 54&p=68086 , so:
So:
A low speed (1 - 9 kB/s) with a very high ETA: Post is not available on the newsserver(s) you use
A low speed (1 - 9 kB/s), but no ETA at all but the test "checking": you have activated the pre-check / pre-download check.
Easy check: hover your mouse pointer above the download, and see what is says.

Re: Download speed indication incorrect
Thanks for the quick reply, sander. I will try this tonight.
One more question: how come that the actual download speed is 3Mb/s or something? I'd say that when one post is not available (maybe out of retention) and the others are coming in at 3Mb/s that the actual speed is still 3Mb/s?

Re: Download speed indication incorrect
I don't fully understand your question: SAB will only download one post at a time. It will download simultaneously multiple articles from that one post: one article-downloader per connection (= thread).luukburger wrote:Thanks for the quick reply, sander. I will try this tonight.

With a 'post' I mean a full post existing of a movie or music. If that (full) post is missing, SABnzbd will only hear "sorry, not here", "sorry, not here", etc, causing there is only protocol overhead, and little bytes downloaded. Result: low kB/s.
If a post has a few missing articles, the download speed will be quite normal.

Re: Download speed indication incorrect
Sorry for the confusion, I meant 'article' where I said 'post' in my last comment.
I guess I'm starting to understand... I said my download speed seems something like 3Mb/s. I didn't actually measure that, but I looked at the Mb's completed going up by refreshing my client. Probably lots of articles were not found, but the Mb's completed progress bar did fill up. In fact only very little data was coming in. When I checked the folder after the downloads were completed, there was only 300Mb of files in it, where the download was 15Gb.
I think I'm going to contact my usenet provider because lately lots of downloads have this problem, so maybe there's something going on with the retention or something.
Thanks a lot again!

Re: Download speed indication incorrect
You can contact them, but maybe do two other things first:
- Read http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/faq#toc30 and think "DMCA"
- Are you downloading very recently released, very popular movies. If so, try something older / less popular to see if that works.
