NZB icon

Post by weybrew »

Newbie here... Don't know if this is a "bug" or not, but after my upgrade to this latest version the icon that comes with the nzb has changed from a green down arrow to the attached... generic icon image...sorry, don't know how to attach screenshot.

This still seems to be the case in 0.7.1. On Windows 7 64-bit.

Did you select the NZB association in the installer again?

Yes. I even reinstalled with it checked just to make sure. The desktop/taskbar does the full icon refresh that typically occurs when registering a new icon, but it just gives the generic windows 3.1 one instead of the correct one.

Have you rebooted your system?
Due to an oversight in the installer, you probably have to reboot before the icon registers.

I've rebooted a couple of times actually and I'm still seeing the same behavior. Let me know if you need me to check anything (registry keys, etc.).

The installer does what it needs to do,
but Windows has a will of its own regarding this.
Does the actual association work?

Yes, NZB files do open in sabnzbd. I'm not terribly worried about the icon being wrong, just a minor annoyance.

Ok, installed sab on a new computer (same OS) this weekend. The icon is set correctly on this new machine. There must have been something hinky on the old one.

Confirmed, same problem in Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. Problem started in 0.7.0, persists in 0.7.1 when upgrading. Ticked box to set association in installer w/o success. Registry settings stuck perhaps?

Possibly you need the 0.7.0 uninstaller to remove the effects of the incorrect setting first.
So that would mean: install 0.7.0, uninstall 0.7.0 (with removal of association), install 0.7.1 (with association).
This whole extension association thing is quite dodgy.
I'll see if I can remove the previous setting before attempting the new registration (in 0.7.2).

Simply uninstalling 0.7.1 from Programs and Features in Windows 7, opting not to delete preferences and reinstalling fixed the prob. Thank you.

There's something odd going in the extension registration library of NSIS (the installer tool we use).
There will be a work-around in 0.7.2.
