Speedproblems after updating (Astraweb)

Post by zombien »

Hello,

I just updated both my SickBeard and sabnzbd for the first time in ~2 years. My previous version of sabnzbd was beta 0.5.2 or 0.5.6 (not quite sure).

Note that I completely removed sabnzbd before installing the new version as I had tried before and something went wrong when I just updated.

Set everything up like I used to have it.

Problem: My speed is horrible. Normally and before the update I had a steady 8MB/s download speed. Now it floats between 500KB/s and 3,5MB/s. Mostly under 2MB/s

The server I'm using now and before the update:

ssl-eu.astraweb.com
Port: 563
username: xxx
password: xxx
Timeout: 120
connections: 20
Retention time: 0

SSL and Enable checkboxed checked.

I tried adding the two other astraweb SSL servers but no improvement.

The threads in the Status window disappears all the time so sometimes it only says ssl-eu.astraweb.com: 20 with no threads displayed

Hopefully someone can help me figure this out.

Thanks

We've seen a few complaints about Astraweb.
Unfortunately I cannot reproduce them myself: I get normal speeds from Astraweb.
If you go back to the previous version, does the speed suddenly come back?

Can you test with another NZB-download program to what speed that gets? NNTPgrab is a cross-platform (Linux, OSX, Windows) program, so you could try that. See http://www.nntpgrab.nl/projects/nntpgrab/wiki/Downloads

You already tested with NNTPgrab? That's quick! :)

Let us know what your provider tells you. It could be Astraweb, or your ISP (possibly throttling news traffic).

You have your temporary download folder on a network or USB drive?
Not recommended at all. What is Y:?
Did you always use it like that?

I'm using a NAS and have been for the past 2,5 years or so

I'm not sure if it is an actual cause,
but using a NAS will use a large part of your (internal) network bandwidth.
Can you check what the result is when you don't use NAS storage but local storage?

Just changed my temporary folder to my local drive and now I get a steady 7MB/s!! That seems to be the cause. thank you very much for your help.
