Cannot access web interface over Internet

Post by Lemjel »

I can access Sab over my local LAN but not over the Internet. I have it set up with No-Ip on port 8080 and with Firefox on my phone I can access the main interface but the orange blocks keep flashing like it's loading and nothing happens apart from that. If I try and access it on my PC/laptop the browser tab gives me the page title but just sits there loading.

You also need to set up port-forwarding on your router.
Check its manual.

On which OS are you running SABnzbd?
You might have to tell your software firewall that it's OK that SABnzbd communicates
with "the internet" instead of just "your local network".
Also, it could be that your phone network operator blocks ports other than 80 (http) and 443 (https).
You can set your router to forward incoming port 80 to local port 8080.

Hi Lemjel,

As a board admin, I can see the IP address from which you post. To help, I checked port 8080 on that IP address with my browser, and ... I do get a SABnzbd login prompt (which I of course didn't try further). So that looks good, I would say. So can you tell how you test? What if you use your public IP address (and not a name). The best method is to use a device that is NOT on your LAN, for example from your Smartphone that is connected to UMTS/3G, and not connected to your LAN.

ok i have tried forwarding ports in the windows 7 firewall (8080) and trying to access it via my ip and no-ip service doesn't display any page, it just stays on the current one.

when accessing it over 3g this is what i get but nothing more.

Ah: now I understand your first post about the "orange blocks": you do get the SAB interface, but partially.

I have no idea what is causing this. You could switch to another SAB-interface (like smpl), and see what you get then.

Ok thanks. Would have been nice to have access like that but not totally essential. Thanks for your help.

But is it solved with the "smpl" interface? If so, the problem could be caused by the AJAX/Javascript in Plush ...
