Cannot connect to admin page
Hi,
It's been about 1-2 months since I've used SABnzbd. It used to work fine before but now, for some reason, the program is giving me problems when I attempt to connect to the admin page. Basically what will happen is that I'll start the SABnzbd daemon (Windows 7 x64). It will then open up a browser window pointing towards the admin url. At this point, firefox becomes stuck at "waiting for reply" from the server. Eventually, the connection times out.
I've tried:
-running the software over different ports (8080, 7777, 9090 etc)
-running the software with and without SSL and with/without password
-uninstalling and reinstalling the client (I get the same error and even the wizard can't be launched. However, if I run the daemon manually using command prompt [sabnzbd.exe -s 127.0.0.1:7777], the wizard launches okay but once I've inputted all the settings, I have trouble connecting to the admin page again.)
Any ideas what can be done?

Re: Cannot connect to admin page
Make sure that SABnzbd isn't running any more. Use the Windows Task Manager.
Open a command prompt (look up cmd in the Start Menu).
Type (including the quotes) for Windows 32 bit:
"c:\program files\sabnzbd\sabnzbd-console.exe"
Type (including the quotes) for Windows 64 bit:
"c:\program files (x86)\sabnzbd\sabnzbd-console.exe"
Press Enter
SABnzbd will start and will show logging.
Check the last part for error messages.
The program should not stop.

Re: Cannot connect to admin page
Thanks for helping. Here's the log that results:
At this point, my webbrowser attempts to connect to http://127.0.0.1:7777/sabnzbd. It's been over 15 mins and firefox is still waiting for a reply. I've tried IE as well with the same issues.
Thanks again.

Re: Cannot connect to admin page
It certainly looks like a software firewall problem.
Check the sabnzbd.ini file (location: http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/configure-v2 )
and make sure it contains the line:
enable_https = 0

Re: Cannot connect to admin page
yes enable_https = 0 is included in the ini file.
I don't have any firewalls enabled on my system actually. Is there anything else I can look into?

If you try http://127.0.0.1:11999/ ... what happens?pacman99 wrote:yes enable_https = 0 is included in the ini file.

If you try another webbrowser (Chrome, IE) with http://127.0.0.1:7777/sabnzbd ... what happens?
What if you use Firefox or another browser with http://localhost:7777/
Re: Cannot connect to admin page
If I try http://127.0.0.1:11999/, it can't connect unless I set the port to 11999. Once I do that, it will work for a few minutes and then the web interface will stop responding again. I would then have to restart the client for it to start working again for another few minutes.
Changing the browser doesn't help unfortunately nor does using localhost.

Ah, interesting.pacman99 wrote:If I try http://127.0.0.1:11999/, it can't connect unless I set the port to 11999. With nothing on 11999, what do you get? An immediate error message, or keeps Firefox waiting and waiting?
But very interesting that you can access SABnzbd for some time. Questions:
- are other tools (like browser plugins) accessing the SABnzbd's web interface? If so can you disable them?
- do you use HTTP or HTTPS?
- you're on Windows, right? As soon as SAB is not responding anymore, can you open a terminal and then type
netstat -aon | find /i "11999"
assuming SAB is still on port 11999. If you have HTTPS too, check that port (9090?) too.
Re: Cannot connect to admin page
-With nothing on 11999, I just get an immediate "Unable to connect" error.
-I don't have any plugins on IE and since I get the same issue there, I'm assuming plugins don't have an effect?
-I'm currently using HTTP only, to keep things simple
-yes I'm using Windows. Here's the output of the command you requested:
Also, the last few lines of code in the sabnzbd console:

OK, no plugins, so that can't be the cause. Good.
The netstat output looks normal: SAB is "LISTENING", and there is only a handful of connections. I guess SAB is still accessible? As soon as SAB is inaccessible, run the command again and post the output here.

Re: Cannot connect to admin page
^while you're right, sab should be accessible, that output is from when the admin page isn't accessible anymore and firefox just keeps waiting for a reply from the server.
Re: Cannot connect to admin page
Oh, that's not good. And strange too.pacman99 wrote:^while you're right, sab should be accessible, that output is from when the admin page isn't accessible anymore and firefox just keeps waiting for a reply from the server.
SABnzbd has an option to show all web interaction: stop SABnzbd, open a CMD box, go to the directory containing sabnzbd-console.exe, and then start it like this:
sabnzbd-console.exe -w1
Keep that CMD box open, and start using SABnzbd. You should see all web interaction in the CMD box. Maybe that will give some additional info.
