Log In to SABnzbd

Post by y2kpatty »

I have just downloaded SABnzbd and thought I have followed all the instructions supplied but now I can't log in. Every time I enter the username and password a message comes up access denied. Erro 401 unauthorized. You need to provide a valid username and password. Since I've started all this I have so many different passwords, etc. dealing with Astraweb, and so on. The ones that I received from Sabnzbd at the very beginning told me that I have activiated my account successfully but I still can't log in. What am I doing wrong?

First of all, whatever you received from sabnzbd.org is about your account for this forum.
This has nothing to do with the SABnzbd software.
You must have entered a username and password in the second page of the Setup Wizard.
Which were those?
Since you did not specify which OS or which SABnzbd version you are using, it's rather difficult to explain a recovery method.

I think the version I have of Sabnzbd is version 0.6.14. How can I find out if I have indeed entered 2 different passwords. It wouldn't surpirse me! It's a little difficult to teach yourself all of this at once.

Easiest thing to do is to stop SABnzbd and remove this file:
c:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\sabnzbd\sabnzbd.ini
Then start it again and read carefully what the Wizard pages say.

You mean uninstall the sabnzbd and download it again? Or can I just download it again... will it automatically replace the existing sab?

When you said to delete the file where do I find this file? Don't forget you're talking to a real novice.

many thanks

No, I said stop the program and remove the listed file.
Uninstall is also possible, but then you have to tick all un-install options.

Just un-install with all uninstall options ticked.
After that re-install and run the program again.
Considering that you haven't actually done anything with SABnzbd, there's no data lost.
