noob problems

So I had installed and used sabnzbd along with giganews and nzbmatrix.... things worked fine. I haven't used newsgroups for a few months and now when I go to use sabnzbd it says it is active but no sign of the console it doesn't grab nzb files and i'm pretty frustrated as I am a complete idiot when it comes to this... It's probably above my head but I am trying anyway.... Any ideas as to why I can't see the program when it launches? I uninstalled and reinstalled twice to no avail

Did you also start the program?
Did you click on its desktop icon (yellow down arrow)?
It's rather invisible, but normally it should launch your web browser.
Use the Windows Task Manager to see if a process called SABnzbd.exe is running.

I did start the program. When I click on the icon the little circle does it's thing for about 2 seconds and then.... presto.... nothing! *grin* Anyway it doesn't launch anything but when I check task manager it says it's running. I really don't know what's going on. When I installed it I remember something saying (hidden) but I don't really know what use the program is if you can't see the console.... thanks by the way for your time ... I truly don't want to be this stupid but apparently.... well here we are eh? I guess I'm thinking that if it's running there should be some sign of it somewhere besides the task manager. I have no indication in the task bar or anywhere else that it is running or not...

Make sure SABnzbd is not running.
Then find this entry in the Start Menu: SABnzbd - Safe Mode
Start that.

i did what you asked and the circle started turning indicating that it was starting then again..... nothing happened.

it does say it is running in task manager

Again, make sure SABnzbd isn't running.
Open a command prompt.
(Find "cmd" in the Start Menu and start that).
You'll get a black window.
Then type (including quotes):

"c:\program files\sabnzbd\sabnzbd.exe" -s 127.0.0.1:8080 -b1

or when that fails:

"c:\program files\sabnzbd (x86)\sabnzbd.exe" -s 127.0.0.1:8080 -b1

You'll see a bunch of text; look for anything resembling an error message.
