It's very handy that the SABnzbd version (listed at the bottom of the webGUI pages) turns into a hyperlink when an update is detected on the weekly check but it'd also be useful if "SABnzbd Version" was always a hyperlink to http://sabnzbd.org/download/.
That way it'd be easier to check for newer versions before the weekly check happens (and maybe the weekly check doesn't notify on new betas). At the moment it takes a couple more clicks to get to the downloads page. Not a big deal but the "SABnzbd Version" wording seems a logical place to put a hyperlink to the downloads page and save everyone a few clicks.
SABnzbd Download Link in Web Interface
Re: SABnzbd Download Link in Web Interface
Our idea was that most people aren't that eager for new versions.
It's a weekly check that warns you that a new stable version is available.
It only reports new Betas/RCs when you are already using one.
Perhaps we can add a "Check Now".

Re: SABnzbd Download Link in Web Interface
A "Check now" is a good idea... assuming you don't mind taking up a little more real estate. It essentially solves the issue which is if I'm working on someone else's computer, making sure everything is current, it'd be nice if there was a 1-click way to see if SABnzbd is current... might make sense for the "Check now" or "Check for updates" to live in the status bar in OSX (but that'd need to be implemented differently on each platform).
Maybe just linking the "SABnzbd" next to "Version" would be a nice discrete way of adding one-click access to the downloads page. A link in the "Wiki, Forum, IRC" list might work well too.

Re: SABnzbd Download Link in Web Interface
I'll think about it, but it's not a high priority thing for me.
