Sicktosab Sabtosick and vice versa...

Post by opentoe »

Are there any detailed docs out there on how sabnzbd works with sickbeard? I'm getting stuck on categories. Basically post processing stuff. If I throw some NZB's in my watch folder and sabnzbd picks them up and starts downloading them how do these downloads get assigned a category?? Do I have to assign a category manually, so the post processing works properly?? Basically I just have the downloads moved into proper folders. How does everyone else setup their categories and make sure their downloads go into the proper folders after they are downloaded??

1) autoProcessTV configuration - Go into sickbeard/autoProcessTV, and set it up. This will consist of telling it how to get to your SickBeard installation, and nothing else, really.
2) SABnzbd configuration - You'll want to make a category called "tv" or whatever, and set the script as sabToSickbeard.py (or whatever it is on your OS). You don't need to give it a special directory or anything, just call it something and set the script.
3) SickBeard configuration - Under Config -> Search Options, set up your NZB Method as SABnzbd, and set the category to whatever you called your tv category.

At this point, anything SickBeard goes out and finds will be sent to SABnzbd automatically, and automatically set to the correct category so it will get the right post-processing script. The post-processing script will send it *back* to SickBeard so it can do all the organization, renaming, cataloging, etc.

For any stuff you *don't* get through SickBeard but still want to have *processed* by SickBeard, you need to set the category. You can either do this through the web UI, or if you're using a watch folder, make a sub-directory in the watch folder named EXACTLY like your target category. So if your category is called "tv", and your watch directory is "c:\watch", dropping an nzb in "c:\watch\tv\" would automatically assign the tv category.

....but you shouldn't need to do this most of the time. SickBeard should be able to do *all* the nzb finding for you automatically. If it doesn't then you haven't set it up right.
