Everything fails

Post by jeffjones217 »

Starting this morning, every single NZB I have added has downloaded the "full" file but then I get this message: "» Repair failed, not enough repair blocks (XYZ short) "

It's getting very annoying. At first I thought it may be the indexing site I usually use (binsearch) that was maybe having issues tracking the full file on its website; but I used Mysterbin and it's having the same issue.

For reference, I want to note that I use giganews diamond account. In other words, no download limits and long ass retention. But the files I'm downloading are less than 24 hours old, so its not a retention issue and i've never had a problem with giganews in the almost 2 years that i've been using it.

Giganews is often the target of DMCA notifications after which
they remove part of the articles.
Check the same NZBs with an alternative client, if you think its a SABnzbd problem.

@jeffjones217: same problem here. the error message keeps popping up with every NZB file, even the new ones. I thought it might be NZBMatrix since it's been down quite a few times this month. But sounds like it could be Giganews (I'm using this provider as well)...

The strangest thing is that its only effecting the files uploaded within the past 24 hours or so. I downloaded the Amazing Race from Sunday night from alt.binaries.multimedia user teevee and there was no issue. But I tried downloading Hawaii Five-0 or How I Met Your Mother from last night from the same server and I got the error. And I don't think its a DCMA rights thing either cuz one of the files I tried to download was an English Premier League game from Monday night...same error. So it must be a giganews/last 24 hour issue thats going on. Who knows.

I'm having the exact same problem. I've tried to download several things (BRrips, Sports games, etc.) but they always fail. I get the same message for everything- "Repair Failed, not enough repair blocks (xxx missing)".
I download with NZBmatrix and use SABnzbd. Can someone please explain what's going on?

Do a retry for a failed item.
If that doesn't help, test the same NZB with a different Usenet client (e.g. Grabit).
It's very likely that it's some (possibly temporary) Giganews issue.
If you want, you can email a failing NZB to bugs at sabnzbd.org
Please, no multi-gigabyte items.

I have determined that the problem is Giganews one.
The same nab file with Usenetnews and Supernews works fine.

You'd better ask GigaNews.
Given their subscription rates, you should expect decent support.

FYI in case it helps ...

I was having the same problem so, after reading this thread, I raised a ticket with giganews and they got me to try using news-europe.giganews.com instead of news.giganews.com - I tried this and kept my port and SSL settings the same (port 563, SSL enabled). The same NZBs I was having trouble with on news.giganews.com worked fine using news-europe.giganews.com just seemed to take a bit longer to download (possibly due to route taken?) - it's not a proper fix but as long as I get my fix of TV somehow I'm happy ;)

Well what do ya know. I was having the same problem. I too saw this post and did the same thing. It did infact stop failing, however, it does take longer to download. Decent patch until problem is solved. Cheers. ;D

I'd say set the US server as primary and the EU server as backup server.
The side effect is that you need to limit the amount of connections per server.
Fortunately GigaNews doesn't need the maximum number of connections
to reach maximum speed.

I am having the same problem as well , now using the euro server but it very slow compare to the us one :-\

does giganews acknowledged the problem yet ? my guess is that it country specific as my friend in other country is working fine .
