Sabnzbd and auto-retry

Post by coleburg »

Auto retry from back up servers is a great option for when you have un repairable files but why hasnt this been automised by sabnzbd yet? It would be a fantastic addition, please consider this in your next release.

thanks

Yeah this could be a good idea. The way mine is setup, I have to manually click on the retry button from the History. If you have a backup server enabled, it makes sense SAB auto retries for failed files. Unless it does do this and I'm just missing something :-)

Cheers

I have checked all (i think) of the settings and im unable to locate any way to automate this so I think at the moment its not possible, but im glad im not the only one that thinks this would be a great addition. It makes sense to have it automated as it automates everything else needed.

Backup servers are already used for missing articles during the first run.
In the situation that you don't have enough par2 files, clicking Retry will only help
if you also supply a new NZB with more par2 files.
Occasionally Retry will help if you have very young NZBs and your provider was a bit behind.

Ah ok, that seems strange as mine failed but I straight away clicked retry and it was then successfull. Can we see from the logs if the back up server was called on the first run?

Many thanks.

If you had debug log on: yes.
There's still the possibility that the NZB was so young that servers did not have everything.
Sometimes NZBs are posted to sites like nzbmatrix.com before the upload is complete.

No didnt have debug on. Is it ok to leave this on all the time or is it best to turn it back to just info?

Yeah true, could of been too young. I will see how it goes.

cheers.

Debug logging is noticeable on slower systems.
An average modern PC or Mac will hardly notice it.
