Version: 0.6.10
OS: OSX 10.5.8
Install-type: uh - dunno. I can only see or open sabnzbd using my browser (Safari) and going to http://localhost:8080/sabnzbd/
Skin (if applicable):don't know
Firewall Software: Some kind of Cisco router firewall, I think. I has not been a problem before.
Are you using IPV6? no
Is the issue reproducible? yes
My IP address changed, and now I can't open sannzbd. As I understand it, I need to get into the SABnzbd.ini file and change the host. (Right?) But I can't figure out how to open SABnzbd.ini. May I ask someone to spell this out for me? I've spent a day looking at different help files and trying to refresh my memory of how the terminal works, but I just can't make it happen.
Please excuse the silly question. I learned how to use Linux a long time ago, but for some reason I'm really at sea in the Mac terminal. It has been a long time.

Re: how do I open SABnzbd.ini
Okay - I think I figured it out. The mistake I was making is downright embarrassing.
Re: how do I open SABnzbd.ini
Oh crud. I've got SABnzbd.ini opened, but I can't fix the problem. Sorry to pester, but what do I do to the file to fix it?
Re: how do I open SABnzbd.ini
To answer your last question: find sabnzbd.ini on your harddisk (or, faster, check out http://wiki.sabnzbd.org/faq#toc16 ), and open it with a plain text editor (not a word processor!)TCase wrote:

However: that's probably not the problem: if your IP address changes, SABnzbd should still run and it should still be accessible via the usual http://localhost:8080/
So: what happens when you start SABnzbd, and then try to access it via the given URL?
Re: how do I open SABnzbd.ini
Thank you! I tried editing the ini file using a plain text editor and then again using the vim whatchamagig in the terminal. I used the instructions from this thread: http://forums.sabnzbd.org/viewtopic.php?t=375 It actually worked, finally, but the process was super odd. After your tips, I went and double checked the activity monitor, and sabnzbd wasn't running. And I couldn't get it to run. Finally I did the old frustrated monkey standby and rebooted the computer, and now everything seems fine. I'll play a bit and make sure it's all good. I think I'll switch back to localhosts since the problem looks like it might have been the app silently crashing in the background and nothing to do with the ip address.
PS. Will anything bad happen if I move sabnzbd.ini and sabnzbd.ini.bak to the Library/Application Support folder? That's where everything else is on the mac.

Re: how do I open SABnzbd.ini
Well, I don't know Mac OSX, but I think SABnzbd will not work anymore (or, more correct: it will start up the wizard), unless you specify to SABnzbd where to find that ini.TCase wrote:

So, long story short: Don't do that (unless you know what you're doing).
EDIT: Shypike's post below shows I really know nothing about Mac OSX ...
Re: how do I open SABnzbd.ini
By default, SABnzbd's admin files are in "~/Library/Application Support/SABnzbd".TCase wrote: PS. Will anything bad happen if I move sabnzbd.ini and sabnzbd.ini.bak to the Library/Application Support folder? That's where everything else is on the mac.
So I don't know what you changed...
