I have now got SABnzbd installed on my 1.12 CHL-1TB and can now get the GUI working
My LINUX knowledge is limited but I do know a reasonable amount of UNIX (so have managed to guess many things)
I am still having a few issues
1) I have created a share folder along with the download/cache/NZB etc folders. However when SABnzbd creates a folder I cannot delete it, what do I need to set to fix this (I have set permissions to 777 in NZB config but that has not helped)
2) SABNZB is complaining that it cannot find UNRAR, where and how do I get this installed
3) Diito for PAR
4) When I download SABnzbd seems to get the data but then errors when unpacking with 'no such file or directory'.
The only help I have found is a very out of date Wiki (dated 2008) from which I have tried to fill in the gaps/amend so if there is anything more comprehensive/current it would be greatly appreciated

Check your connection in Status and Interface settings window.
Use Test Server in Config > Servers.
We will probably ask you to do a test using only basic settings. - Do you experience problems during repair or unpacking?
Enable +Debug logging in the Status and Interface settings window and share the relevant parts of the log here using [ code ] sections.
