Novice Cannot Pull It Together! - will pay for help

Post by airtwain »

58 year old, fairly computer literate, cannot pull this together.
I used the howtogeek guide on setting up "tivio" type operation on my computer. Probably misinterpreted some of the settings instructions. Subcribed to giganews, nzbmatrix, SABnzbd, SickBeard, and installed XBMC.
SAB shows that I downloaded a couple of shows but, for the life of me, I don't understand how to watch the shows with XBMC.
Also, do not understand what post processing actually results in or means.
Haven't felt this stupid since I downloaded programs over a 300 baud modem onto a cassette tape on my Apple II in 1980!

Version 0.6.8
OS - Win 7
Firewall- Microsoft Security Essentials
IPV6 - no idea what that means

For a general background on Usenet downloading read this: http://www.binaries4all.com/
XBMC is a rather intuitive program, I think and I'm not all that young either :)
There are plenty of tutorials for it.

You had a modem in 1980?! Lucky you! I only had a casette tape connected to my Tandy TRS80 in 1982. My first modem was only around 1989 or so.

I felt a lot like that when I first started with Usenet a couple months ago and it's been a slow and steady learning process (and I still have a LOT to learn). This is what got me interested in newsgroups and what I used in my initial setup:

http://lifehacker.com/5601586/how-to-ge ... mple-steps

I'm still working on figuring out some of the more automated/advanced functions, but for now I can do it all by hand with the SABconnect++ plug-in for Chrome and a few solid search sites for the things I download most often (music, TV, and games).

What it basically comes down to is that if a file is uploaded correctly/complete on their end, and the settings are correct on your end, SABnzbd+ will do everything for you and it's as simple as finding the file in the list and clicking "Download." Post-processing just means (and correct me if I'm wrong) that after the file is downloaded in all its various pieces SAB will put it together for you (repair), unpack it, and then delete all of the pieces you don't need anymore.

You say that you downloaded a couple of shows, when you go look in those folders what files are in there?
