First off, I use Sabnzbd+ every day and absolutely love it. Nothing else compares! Thank you devs for your hard work.
Some of my downloads are not available through newsgroups, however. I currently use JDownloader (I'm on Linux) for any other heavy downloading. I like that it can utilize my entire pipe because of the multiple connections per file. While I enjoy using JDownloader (they thought of everything!), it makes my laptop heat up quite a bit! I was wondering if it would be possible to add HTTP downloads to Sabnzbd+ for general downloads.
If implemented, it would also be nice to have some sort of password management for sites that require authentication (megaupload, hotfile, etc). Also, if you have ever used JDownloader, you may have seen how it groups multipart archives to look like one large download but you can also view individual file progress as well. Once finished, it can extract and delete the archive files. Ideally, Sabnzbd+ addons would be able to send any HTTP link to Sabnzbd+ for downloading.
Use cases:
- Can't find Ubuntu 11.10 on NZB boards. Add download link from Ubuntu.com to Sabnzbd+ for downloading. Sabnzbd+ uses multiple connections to fully utilize my connection and the file downloads quickly.
- Big Buck Bunny is nowhere to be found on NZB boards but is available on Filesonic in a 10 part rar archive.
I looked around a bit but didn't see anybody else request this. My apologies if you have heard it all before. Thank you again for all of your amazing work!
General Purpose Downloading
Re: General Purpose Downloading
We're keeping SABnzbd a specialized tool and keeping it good at what it does.
So, the answer is no.
BTW: the complexiity of what you're asking is serious.
You're asking to re-implement jDownloader.
