Sabnzbd not working in windows after .6.6 update :(

I have been using sabnzbd for quite some time with minimal problems. Love the program. Yesterday while downloading several items, it notified me an update was available (as it had so many times before). I downloaded the update, and installed....and now I can't open sabnzbd in my browser. I have tried clicking on the desktop icon, tried running console, and regular exe. I notice it is running as a process. I can stop the process, and then click on the icon again...and it starts the process again, but the browser never opens where I can see progress, modify settings etc. I tried uninstalling and re-installing....I haven't ever had this happen in the past updates. Did I miss a step with the new update? Any help is appreciated.

When you open up your web browser and enter the URL for SAB what does the web browser come back with?

Well that's weird. I hadn't considered that. I manually entered the url and now I can get into the standard browser screen. So obviously the problem isn't with the install....how do I get it going again?

So right now you are able to access SAB via your web browser when entering in manually?

If you're using Windows, look for "SABnzbd - Safe mode" in the Start Menu.

Open, yes that's correct, I can access SAB via my browser when entering the url manually.

Thanks Shypike, that work.....but why? The only change I made was updating to the latest version. Is something now uncompatible with my setup?

How did you start up SABnzbd before?

I just had a shortcut on my desktop that I would click on. That shortcut now doesn't work. I now know I could make a shortcut to the "safemode" exe...just curious why the other shortcut, console, and original exe in the folder do nothing now.

Check the properties of these shortcuts, are they still valid?
Once you run "Safe mode" once, its forced parameters are stored in the INI file.
So running the original shortcuts should work, unless they were modified by you.

Thanks for the quick reply shy. First, I haven't modified any of the shortcuts. If I check the properties of the shortcut, it is still pointing to the SABnzbd.exe in the correct folder (same folder safe mode exe is in). It doesn't matter whether I click on the shortcut or the actual exe in the parent folder. When I click on it my mouse changes from a pointer to "working" status (used to be a magnifying glass in the old days), and starts the process in task manager but the browser doesn't open. If I click the SABnzbd safemode as you suggested, it does indeed open the browser as normal. I then close it and try the exe or shortcut again, same "working" cursor...but doesn't work. Sickbeard will still send an nzb to the open "process" and everythign still works...but really curious how the update seemingly changed something for me?
