Another noob question, (I hate being a noob) what does

Repair failed, not enough repair blocks (527 short)

mean and how do I resolve?

Welcome to Usenet.
Incomplete posts are a fact of life and so are partially complete NZB files.
Try to find a more complete NZB.
Try to get them from a reputable site line nzbmatrix.org
If you use something like binsearch.info: check the file overview for completeness.

is there any way to resolve as otherwise I have just wasted 1.5GB

Follow the advise I gave you.
You need to develop an intuition about which NZBs are reliable.
BTW: we are working on something called a pre-check which attempts to
verify existence of articles on a Usenet server before downloading.
This is a) not very fast and b) still relies on accuracy of the NZB.
