Sabnzbd won't sleep or do any of the "On Finish" commands

Post by Gigahertz21 »

None of the "On Finish" commands work for me, I tried them several times on my laptop running Windows Vista with all the latest updates of course as well as on my friend's Windows 7 computer with all the latest updates.  Both computers have no trouble being put to sleep manually or automatically through windows, and utorrent puts my computer to sleep automatically with no problems after it finishes but not sabnzbd.

(EDIT) Interesting, I upgraded to the latest version of Sabnzbd and now it works.  I was on version 6.3....but now it's hibernating instead of sleeping and I have hibernation disabled.  Hmmmmmm.....

Any suggestions?

(EDIT 2)  Solved, went to command prompt and typed "powercfg.exe /hibernate off" and now it sleeps like it should after my que finishes.  Hibernation was set to off in my power options but I guess it wasn't really turned off or something.  But whatever, works now  ;D

0.6.3 and 0.6.4 had a bug preventing end-of-queue actions to complete.
For hibernate and standby we use the appropriate Windows system calls.
However, it's not always easy to predict what they do and whether they work.

Thanks for the info.  Also, is there any way to make sabnzbd automatically go to sleep at a set time?  I was looking at the scheduler options and didn't see any option to tell it to pause your downloads and go to sleep at a certain time.  Right now I have the scheduler set to pause all of my downloads at 8am every day, but I would love to have it put my computer to sleep at the same time as well.  Possible?

SABnzbd is not a universal scheduler.
All events in the scheduler are tied to SABnzbd-specific functions.
However, if you set Windows to go to standby after some idle time,
then scheduling a pause_all will make Windows go to sleep.
It won't wakeup by itself though (you'd need to set a wake-up time in the BIOS).

K, thanks.  I'd love to see the ability to wake and sleep your computer using the scheduler.  It would be nice to be able to tell sab to wake up your computer for example at 1am and start downloading, then go to sleep at for example 8am.  The programming wouldn't be difficult would it?

I know there are other programs out there that you could run along with sab to do this (know of any?) but it would be nice if sab just had it built in that way you wouldn't have to mess with setting wake timers in your BIOS or other software.

The Windows TaskPlanner will allow you to set sleep and wake-up times.
Again, we won't turn SABnzbd into a PC control centre.
All such features cost time for design and maintenance.
Time we'd rather spend on other features.
