Problem using RSS feeds and other misc questions

Hi there,

Now that SAB seems to run fine on my machine, I am trying to harvest more power out of the setup by experimenting with the RSS functions.  Basically, because of my monthly bandwidth cap, I am using an excel spreadsheet to keep a back log of things that I want to download.  Whenever I want to download something, I go on my indexing site, search and download.  I then remove the entry in the spreadsheet.

First question:  is there a better way to manage backlogs such as mine?  In other words, is there something in SAB to take care of that? 

There is also some stuff that is not currently managed by my media managers (CouchPotato & SickBeard).  I am referring to things such as events, shows and live concerts, etc.  I am thinking about using the RSS feeds to "monitor" my indexing sites for entries that would pertain to relevant topics or subjects.  Having a backlog management feature as discussed above would allow to queue the jobs and I could activate the download manually or automatically.  I experimented with the RSS feeds I must have screwed up because I ended up with 45 jobs totaling 6.4TB!!!  Good thing I caught this on time and cancelled all jobs. For example, I added a RSS feed from NZBMatrix.  I am interested in retrieving the F1 Grand Prix events, so I added a filter that would contain:  *formula*one*grand*prix*  Using this pattern, I expected SAB to download anything that would contain the words "formula", "one", "grand", & "prix" but I ended up with a queue of documentaries, XXX movies and all kind of stuff I was not interested in (at least for now!

What am I missing with the RSS??  Also why SAB only downloads 50 feeds?  Are the RSS function capable of searching past the last 50 feeds?

Last question of all (and off topic but might be of interest for the admins): I noticed my Snort setup on my router box is blocking this forum.  The relevant reason is:  IP 173.255.201.163 (WEB-CLIENT obfuscated javascript excessive fromCharCode - potential attack)
Is there anything abnormal going on here?

The RSS facility has a preview mode where you can fine-tune your
filters based on the current content of the feed.
Each time you change a filter all entries will be examined again.
The preview is divided in matching and non-matching.
It also lists the filter that makes the match.
Your filters are either simple wild-cards or full regular expressions.

I'm not a aware of a 50 feed limit.
But I haven't met anyone who thought it wise to setup 50 feeds

You see that's what I did before and because of an improper shutdown with my server due to an auto-reclose with my utility (I now have a UPS so the utility shouldn't interfere with my setup) all jobs got re-started and activated and I blew up my monthly cap...

Other question, am I using the filter properly?

It failed...  I added all files to be downloaded to SAB and shutdown my server because I was gonna be away from home for few days and upon my return, I tried to start one of the jobs that I paused, and nothing happened (SAB indicated 15GB downbloaded immediately ==> IMPOSSIBLE) and the logs had this in it:

So whats the matter with that queue??  I will have to go back to 1920 technologies aka a hand written list....

You queue is damaged.
Is shutdown now going properly?
Try getting the jobs back into the queue with repair tools on the Status page.

I would think so, I usually shutdown SAB with the shutdown option in the Web interface and then shutdown the machine normally.  I currently have no way to shutdown SAB from the CLI (like I want to do in my global shutdown script).  What command should I use to shut down sab from CLI?  Now that I am thinking about it, I might have shutdown the machine without shutting down SAB first... Who knows, Its been 5 days since then and I dont remember.

I currently start SAB with:

But have no way to shut it down cleanly.  If you Shypike can give me this command I'd appreciate a lot so I dont have to go in the Web interface to shutdown manually...

Stopping through the script should work, although I'm not familiar with it.
(It's not part for our own distro tarbal).
The easiest way tp stop is through the API.

curl http://localhost:8080/sabnzbd/api?mode= ... key=BLABLA
sleep 60

Adjust the parameters to suit your situation (don't forget the API key).

I will look further into behaviour when doing an improper shutdown.
We took quite some measures, but it's always tricky.
In fact, the worst occurs when aborted in the middle of a proper shutdown.

I tried with the

but SAB says:

And I am sure of the API Key, I took it from the Config -> General and its the same Couchpotato and Sickbveard are using...

What am I doing wrong?

Maybe you should use this:

curl "http://localhost:8080/sabnzbd/api?mode= ... key=APIKEY"

I think the shell uses the ? and & for its own purposes, so you probably need the double quote characters.
