myNZB connection issue with iPad and Windows 7

I wonder if you can help me...

I have SABnzbd installed on a Windows 7 machine and it is working nicely via Newzbin and Firefox's add-on BUT I have purchased the 'myNZB' app for my iPhone/iPad and I can't get it to work.

My router is forwarding the port to the Windows 7 machine and Windows FW initially blocked the connection so I allowed that through so I can see the traffic getting that far but all I am getting on the iPad app is -

SABnzb Error: The request timed out.

Any help would be great I'm not sure why it's not working, there are 0 'Warnings' in SABnzbd

Are you using your iPad over your local Wifi or over 3G (Verizon, AT&T).
When using it over Wifi, you don't need to expose SABnzbd to the internet,
but you should tell myNZB to use the local IP address (something like 192.168.1.56).

Hi shypike thanks for the swift response, I am using wifi yes and currently am on my local LAN but the goal is to use it over the internet on my external IP.

I have just tried the local address and it works fine....its got to be being block somewhere inbound from the WAN?

Have you tried reaching it from a PC at work or a friend's PC?

I am at work now so am doing some testing, if I browse to the following

https://188.x.x.x:9090/sabnzbd/

I just get a 'The connection has timed out' now moving back to the port forwarding, I have a -

Thomson TG585 v7 (Provided by O2 in the UK)

Now these boxes are quite painful to say the least, they use a section called 'Game & Application Sharing' for port mapping.

I have other services setup inbound going to this Windows 7 machine with no problem, port is 9090-->9090.

Like I said I dont think this is an issue because if Windows FW is on it gets blocked when the traffic is initiated (I have since allowed it to no avail as expressed before)

You did tell the Windows Firewall to allow SABnzbd traffic?
It also makes difference between LAN and WAN addresses.
You should set the exception for SABnzbd to "The internet".

Yes I did allow the traffic and from the internet.

I am stumped on this one, I just tried re-installing SABnzbd but still no joy.

I have also trawled through the Windows event logs but nothing untoward.

OK fixed 

The issue was with the router, the 9090 protocaol was defined with a trigger port this was removed and it all works now

I have attached an example for anyone else with a Thomson TG585 [note the port in the example is not 9090, because I cant view/edit it whilst it's live]
