I just recently started using sabnzbd, nzbmatrix and newshosting.com for my downloads.
My internet connection works great until I start using sabnzbd. When I start a download, it works great, but eventually my speed drops to zero, then it will go back up, max out and download for a bit, then drop to zero again. It will continue in this pattern for a while. If it's a bigger file, 4gb or so, eventually my whole connection dies and I have to reboot my modem. My wireless connection network is not effected by any of this, it's always on and solid. My internet connection never has any problem....until I'm downloading with sabnzbd. I get the same problem on 2 different computers, whether wireless (on my laptop) or wired connection (on my HTPC). Any ideas?

Check your connection in Status and Interface settings window.
Use Test Server in Config > Servers.
We will probably ask you to do a test using only basic settings. - Do you experience problems during repair or unpacking?
Enable +Debug logging in the Status and Interface settings window and share the relevant parts of the log here using [ code ] sections.

Yes, my connection drops to zero and recovers reapeatedly. It will dl fine for several minutes then drop to zero for 30-60 seconds or so, then recover again. It will do this for a while. It seems to manage to dl smaller files, but if it's something around 4gb or larger, it will die hard before the end, requiring a reboot of my modem. I don't have any connection issues when not dl'ing over usenet.
My modem is an ancient Motorola SB3100. I just realized I was paying Comcast 7 bucks a month for it, so I'm buying a new modem today and returning theirs. Maybe that will help.

Same issue here, it started happening recently.
provider usenetserver, timewarner cable 15 mbt. sabnzb recent version.
i swapped out the router already but will try and swap out the actual modem next week.
newsleecher works fine but any time i run through sabnzb, the connection drops then dies altogether.

Have you tried to set a lower speed in SABnzbd?
Do you use many "connections"?
Usually you don't need many. With Giganews I get max speed with just 6 connections.

Ok, got a new modem and my speed doubled, up to 1.5MB.
Seems to stay at a fairly constant rate most of the time.
Sometimes, it will drop to a much slower speed and then return to the higher rate, but this seems to be much less of the time.
I'll keep an eye on it and see what happens.

update : went to timewarner to switch out my old motorola modem and the girl laughed at me. she said i shouldn't be using a 7 year old model, then proceed to hand me a brand new cisco modem. 2 hours and no drops.
