Confused about Categories?

Post by Tiger33 »

Hi folks.

Just learning how to use sabnzbd - so far so good - its auto downloading (i.e grabbing from nzbmatrix and with the use of sick beard its auto downloading tv shows)

but i'm a bit confused about the categories

when i download via sick beard the downloaded tv show goes into the TV category but not into the actual TV show folder?

Is there a setting i'm missing somewhere within sabnzbd to change where the file goes?

really sorry for the noob question folks (be easy on me)

You need to map the nzbmatrix categories to your own categories.
So assuming you have a Linux category defined, you'll need to put linux.apps in the group column of the category.
SABnzbd's program folder contains a list of nzbmatrix categories (nzbmatrix.txt).

I'm not sure what sort of manipulation SickBeard will do, you'll have to ask its authors.

Thank you very much for the quick reply.
Sadly i'm still confused

my downloads are going inttot he correct base folder (so TV Shows are going into the TV folder)

but they are not going into the actual show folders.

Is there something I need to change on sabnzbd or more to do with sick beard?

TV Sort is a tricky business.
You need to set the categories to which TV sort applies too.
Also there are many variants of sort strings.

sounds like you might need to go into the "sorting" config page to set up sorting - it's not just categories, you need to tell it how you want it sorted too.

At the risk of looking too much like a noob, I am also confused

Can I use the Newzbin sub-categories eg PS3 to send PS3 files to a different location or do categories only work on the top level category (ie Consoles in this case)?

For newzbin, only the top level category is used (so "consoles" in this case).
The rest are "attributes" and currently we don't support them.

Thanks Shy, can I also ask a related question re category paths

I'm running Windows and have my TV category set to "H:\TV (ongoing shows)" with no quotes but it keeps dumping each folder of TV shows in the root and I am wanting it dumped in that directory so each show lines up in its correct subfolder. Do I need quotes or double \\ entries?

I'm not sure what's going on.
What you can try to do is hard-code the TV path in the TV sort expression.

Apologies.. I got confused with having the path set in categories but also having TV sorting enabled. Works fine now I fixed my TV sorting prefs.

Rather embarrasing!!
