sab deletes everything it downloads!

Hi,

- TV category downloads are fine and pass to sickbeard
- Movie downloads are fine via couch potato

- Anything NOT in a category completes, and instantly gets deleted.
- If I watch the download 'completed' folder, I can see the downloaded file appear, and if I'm quick enough I can grab it and copy it
- when I re-fresh the folder, the downloaded folder disappears
- The files are nowhere to be found on the computer or network

This happens to every single download, no matter what it is, unless it is sent by sickbeard or couch potato.

I don't know your exact setup, so its hard to say anything useful about this.
First, files are not downloaded to the "completed" folder.
That's the folder where they go to after unpacking (or moving).
Is your default "complete" folder identical to the "temporary download folder".
If so, that's not a good idea.
I see nothing in the logging that's abnormal.

thanks so much for your quick reply!  I really appreciate your assistance.

I also have an 'incoming' folder, which I believe is my temporary folder. 

I keep the completed folder open when the download is near complete.  I see the folder appear, and I have a few seconds when I can open it.  It seems like as long as I keep the folder open, I can copy its contents out, or copy the whole folder somewhere.  Often, when I go 'back' to the "completed" folder, the folder for the download is gone, even though I was just in it.  IF I am in the completed folder, I can actually see it just disappear by itself. 

Both 'incoming' and 'completed' folders reside on an SSD, which is the main system drive.  Could that have something to do with it? 

So frustrating!  Yesterday I downloaded about a hundred books.  Every one of them is MIA.  Luckily my TV shows and movies still work fine.  So weird!!

Set SABnzbd's logging level to "Debug" and download a small
job that you expect to disappear.
Then inspect the log file, it's a bit verbose, but you should be able to see exactly
what SABnzbd does to your files.

This time, the folder stayed, but is empty.   Folder properties shows 0mb size.    

EDIT:  I just checked in the completed folder again, and now the empty folder is gone as well.

I don't see it deleting any files.
BTW: what is your post-processing setting?
Most people set it to the default value of +D, meaning the RAR files are removed
after unpacking. I see SABnzbd moving the RAR files to the "incomplete" folder.

What happens if you put an NZB in the queue and set the end-of-queue action: Shutdown SABnzbd ?

here's my settings


I had it to + Delete, but changed it to +Unpack in troubleshooting this problem.  However, all my RAR files are still being deleted along with everything else.

It looks like sab is moving the files from incomplete, into completed, as it should.  Should it be moving the RAR files too, or just the extracted files?

I should note that when downloads fail, or have a problem, they stay in the incomplete folder, and do not disappear.  That tells me it must not be a disk problem.  I often get folders that start with _FAILED_ or _UNKNOWN_ in my incomplete folder.  I just delete them.  If they are TV shows, sickbeard tries again automatically. 

I'll try the shutdown action right now.

also I will try setting a default category called 'OTHER' or something, so that it moves it into a subfolder rather than just leaving it in the 'completed' folder.

It still looks like you have overlapping "incomplete" and "complete" folders.
_unpack_ is only ever created in "complete".
If you use +Unpack instead of +Delete, then the RAR files will be moved to "complete".

sorry I was wrong, the _UNKNOWN_ and _UNPACK_ are only in the 'completed' folders

_UNKOWN_ folders are never created by SABnzbd.
Without a full debug log of a failing NZB, there's not much I can do.

Everything seems totally fine to me.  It downloads, processes, moves, unpacks, cleans up, then resumes.    It creates the subfolder /books/  and moves the PDF file into it with no errors.  

In windows explorer, I can see the /books/ subfolder gets created, the pdf file appears,  then the whole subfolder disappears out of the blue, never to be found again.   wtf??

the files are extracted and are fine.  the par2 files are still there, I presume because I don't have "clean up par2 files" checked in settings. 

the video file plays no problem from start to finish, but was never sent to sickbeard for processing.    I can manually post-process the file in sickbeard no problem.    Last night, sickbeard re-downloaded this file automatically and processed it, as it always does, so I just delete these _unknown_ folders myself when they appear.  It's not that often, maybe once in every 10 downloads.

I'll try to find the log for that particular "unknown" download, but its definitely SAB creating that folder, nothing else would have done it.

_UNKOWN_ folders are never created by SABnzbd.
Without a full debug log of a failing NZB, there's not much I can do.
You can email it to bugs at sabnzbd.org (include a reference to this message).

Not _UNKNOWN_ but SAB+ does create Unknown a single folder by that name due to a category with that name.
Forget it.
This was an idea before vinister posted right before me.

I've searched all the sab logs for the word 'unknown' and it never shows up.   This just gets stranger and stranger!  I don't want us to get side-tracked though, the unknown folders don't bother me much because they don't happen all that often, and the files are still in there and are just fine.    Its the deleted files that I'm most concerned about!
