    Check your connection in Status and Interface settings window.

The SSL libraries may be poor.
A large download queue may give problems when the system has not enough memory.

I was thinking of connection overhead, but running 'top' in a shell shows hardly any of the 2GB of memory available being used.

Fixed. Reverted to 0.5.2.
