Hi, I have joined up to say what a great piece of software SAB is, been using for ages and its very reliable and stable, but I have one problem I must resolve.
I have set up SAB with the following schedule rules:
23:59 - Daily Resume
07:59 - Daily Pause All
I even tried:
23:55 - Daily Restart
23:59 - Daily Resume
07:59 - Daily Pause All
08:05 - Daily Shutdown
and it still continues to ignore the paused status.
This is because I am only unlimited between midnight and 8am. The problem I have is, sometimes, SAB will say its paused in the Tab bar, and the pause icon is red, but when you look at the download speed area, it is downloading?! If I click pause twice to turn pause off and on again, it is still downloading??? I cannot let SAB continue to download 24/7 as my ISP has already billed me for going over my daily allowance.
This is installed on a new machine built as a server / Sadnzbd machine. I also saw this on my windows laptop, but as that was not left running 24/7 I was not too concerned. This server will run all day though.
The details:
Version: 0.5.6
OS: Windows 7 Enterprise 64bit
Install-type: Windows Installer
Skin (if applicable): Plush
Firewall Software: Win7
Are you using IPV6? ??
Is the issue reproducible? yes - Just restrted SAB now to check version and it says Paused, but it is downloading....?!
I would really appreciate a concrete way of being able to leave sab running 24/7 and TRUST my ISP is not going to bill me into bankrupcy come month end. I am charged £2/Gb if I stray over my limit.
Thank you

Re: Sabnzbd won't pause...
I have no idea why it won't pause.
I use a similar setup and this works all the time.
When you start SABnzbd between 8:00 and 23:59, does it start in paused mode (it should)?
Did the planned "shutdown" work?
As a last resort you could try to plan a disable_server for all servers.
This will effectively stop downloading too.
Another try is to use "Pause" and not "Pause All".
"Pause all" will stop all action (except the active post processing job).
It shouldn't matter, but you never know.

Re: Sabnzbd won't pause...
Hi,
Thanks for the reply.
Yes, it starts saying it is paused in the firefox tab, and the paused icon is red indicating it should be paused, but it is clearly downloading.
I will try the Pause command.
I've not used the shutdown command 'live' yet, will try with a fake timing later.
Thanks

Re: Sabnzbd won't pause...
If it comes up paused, this means that SABnzbd understands and correctly evaluates the schedule settings.
There's nothing in the queue with a "Forced" priority?
That will ignore the pause.
Do you use the smpl skin? That sometimes does odd things with the status (at least when displaying it).
Plush and Classic should be OK.

Forced priority... that'll be why then
Thanks
Thanks
Re: Sabnzbd won't pause...
"Forced" priority should not be used.
It's used internally to force the downloading of additional par2 files to the top of the queue.
I think I will remove "forced" as a user-selectable priority in a later release.

Re: Sabnzbd won't pause...
I am still having this issue however everything that is added to my queue uses "Normal" Priority. I too have limited bandwidth during the day so would like sab to be paused. Any other ideas?
Re: Sabnzbd won't pause...
Use the scheduled pause and resume.

Re: Sabnzbd won't pause...
Sorry let me clarify
At 8am I have sheduled "Pause" for every weekday and at 8pm every day i have scheduled resume. Currently lets say at 1pm when i came home for lunch i find SAB has been downloading all morning even though it says it is paused. If i click resume and then pause i see it pauses for maybe 5 seconds then is back at full download speed again still whilst saying paused.
All my items are added as normal priority.

Re: Sabnzbd won't pause...
There have been some unclear complaints about this issue
but we never got to the bottom of it.
Apart from bugs in the third-party scheduler module we use,
the only other cause I can think of is that the program is so busy
that it has no time to run the scheduler.
Can you test with a few scheduled pauses spaced in 5 minute intervals?
You could also try the disable_server and enable_server scheduled functions, this will stop and start downloading too.
Should those work then it's not a scheduler problem, but something else.
