I've been using Sab on my server for awhile with sickbeard and love it works great .
I would like to expand it's use .
my server is downstairs , and I store all my files on ,
I surf upstairs via a wifi N laptop , using chrome ,
what I would like to do , is to use the chrome plugin for my nzb's allowing this to send the nzb to the server downstairs , and having the server's sab to sort my files , sorta like it does already like sickbeard but not so intense .
doing this above save me from downloading everything on my laptop over wifi and then coping it to right locations.
can sab do all this ? and if it does how can i get started ?

Check your connection in Status and Interface settings window.
Use Test Server in Config > Servers.
We will probably ask you to do a test using only basic settings. - Do you experience problems during repair or unpacking?
Enable +Debug logging in the Status and Interface settings window and share the relevant parts of the log here using [ code ] sections.

Just set the host sabnzbd listens on to 0.0.0.0 and access SABnzbd on your laptop via that computer's local network address. like, http://192.168.1.20:8080/sabnzbd, or whatever that computer's IP is. You'll also need to update the address used by the chrome extension.

perfect , I thought thats basically what needed to be done , I didnt have time today to check it all out though so I'm hoping in the next few days.

ok I think i have it figured out ,
but if I click on something from say nzbmatrix it just downloads it , unless I manually select "movies"from the drop down , I guess unless I use newzbin it just won't do it ?

SABnzbd can handle categories from nzbmatrix too.
There's also the possibility to let the Usenet group determine the category.
You have to understand that a category is essentially an interpretation of the content.
If an indexer site (like newzbin) already did that, you can use it.
Otherwise you need to be the judge of that, SABnzbd cannot do it on its own.
