No Connections

Post by kevesh »

Hi all,

I recently installed SABnzbd on my mac and after some troubles with login it started working. However this was at my friends home the day after I tried to run the program at my place and then my que list did not start downloading. After I took a look at the server information (which turn out to be filled out correctly) I noticed that in the 'connections' window it showed no connection at all.

Do I miss anything here? Does anybody has a solution? Thanks in advance!

Greets,

Kevin

P.S. Here some background information:

Version: 0.5.6
OS: OSX Leopard
Install-type: OSx .app, OSx source?
Skin (if applicable): Plush
Firewall Software: None
Are you using IPV6? I don't know?
Is the issue reproducible? yes

NZB in the queue?
Not in paused state?
Servers active?

Thanks for your reply. I've got two NZB's in que and pause mode is not active so it should be running. I checked the server many times but this does not seem the problem since it shows 'connection successful' when testing it.

I use a safe SSL gate (#563) and I should have 4 connections with reader.xsnews.nl
I already checked with XS News and they show no bad connections so things should work. However, in Settings/Connections shows the following:

reader.xsnews.nl:563:0

This probably indicates that no connections are active due to some setting or error?

Hope anyone has a solution to this issue. Thnx

Did you also tick the SSL box when using port 563.
Does using port 119 and no SSL work?
Do you have other servers defined?
Do you have a firewall like LittleSnitch running?

When using port 563 I did tick the SSL box.
I also tried the 119 port without the SSL but same problems here (server connection good, but not active connections).
Right now I only have these two servers defined. I do not use any firewall at the moment.
It's strange that the connections worked when I used my mac at another place. Since I'm at home it doesn't. But since I didn't change any setting it should be working.

I'm beginning to suspect some queue corruption.
If you're not worried about losing your current queue:
stop SABnzbd
Remove everything from: /Users/user/Library/Application Support/SABnzbd/cache
start SABnzbd

ok, I removed all files in the cache directory and removed all nzb files in queue.
Next I started a new NZB file and it looked like it would work, however after a few seconds the same problem occurred.
But now the server connection test shows: "502 Too many connections".
I have only the 563 gate (SSL) defined.

Thanks so far for your support.

How many connections did you enter in the server definition?

I entered 4 connections in the server definition. Is this incorrect because I thought that it was allowed at my account?
This morning the number of connections doesn't seem the problem anymore, the test shows connection is good.

Some servers are slow to realize that connections have been terminated.
Does it work now?

Nope unfortunately still the same problem. Can it be the case that the defined server on my old windows system (I used Newsleecher here) is prohibiting from using this newly defined server?

If newleecher is still running and connecting, it sure will.

Well it's not actually running because I don't use it any more (since a few weeks), it's installed on my old laptop. I might still have a queue list there but I'm not downloading. Is it then still possible for Newsleecher to interfere with SABnzbd?

I'm starting to loose confidence in finding a solution to the problem. Are there any other settings that can possibly cause these problems?
Sorry for bothering you so much but I'd really hope this program to work. Thanks for your help I really appreciate it.

Oke I checked again. After removing all queue files (also in the cache directory of SAB) and adding a new NZB file the connection settings now show reader.xsnews.nl:563:4 but the connection test at the server settings show again the error: 502 too many connections. After a while the connection settings window again shows reader.xsnews.nl:563:0. In this same window, under the header 'reader.xsnews.nl:563:0' it says 'none'. The latter has always been the case, I don't know whether the connection should be defined here when the program is working well?

Do you share the news account with anybody else? A friend? Someone else in your home?

When you use newsleecher on the other, old machine, does it still work?

Can it be your ISP is blocking newsserver connections? Which ISP do you use?

If the above does not resolve the problem, I - myself - would do this: remove all queues, remove sabnzbd.ini, start up SABnzbd's wizard, use the non-SSL xsnews server with only one connection, and then see if that works.
