Check your connection in Status and Interface settings window.
Use Test Server in Config > Servers.
We will probably ask you to do a test using only basic settings. - Do you experience problems during repair or unpacking?
Enable +Debug logging in the Status and Interface settings window and share the relevant parts of the log here using [ code ] sections.

Can you describe what kind of CRC errors?
When do they happen? During downloading or during unpacking?
There are no changes in 0.5.5RC2 that can explain a sudden increase in CRC errors.

wow, its strange but apparently 2 of my ram modules died about the same time I upgraded sabnzbd.
Just to satisfy my curiosity, I ran a memtest and sure enough 2 of my 4 gigs is bad.. I removed them and retested a download that was crc hell and that was it. sorry for the false alarm. what are the odds of this happening at the same time.. sheesh.
