OpenSSL with Synology DSM 3.0

Post by keishinto »

Hi everyone,

I come to you for some help. I did some research but I found nothing on the subject ...

I use SABnzbd + 0.5.4 on my Synology NAS on Linux with the latest DSM 3.0. This version includes the OpenSSL 1.0.0, how can I verify that the SSL mode is enabled when it is checked in SABnzbd +?

In advance thank you for your help.

You mean SSL for the Usenet server connections?
Assuming you have a Usenet provider that supports SSL.
In Config->Servers, set the port used by your provider forr SSL (often 563) and select SSL.
If downloading works, then SSL must have been installed correctly.
There is no protocol negotiation in Usenet, if you set SSL, then SSL must be used.

Good evening,

Thank you for your quick response.

In previous version 2.3 of my DSM Synology, OpenSSL is not installed by default.
I noticed it after having installed Ipkg and installation of OpenSSL.
Indeed SABnzbd + server was configured with the SSL port 443 and it worked, but I think it sdisd not encrypt the data, given that seen that OpenSSL was not installed, is it?
OpenSSL version 1.0.0 is installed by default on the Synology version 3.0, SABnzbd + t but will it will properly encrypt my data with the server if I check the SSL option in the configuration settings of the server connection? IHow can I verify thif it correctly works? Must OpenSSL be installed in a specific directory for SABnzbd + to use it properly?

Thank you in advance

Did you also install the Python module PyOpenSSL?

How can I verify that is installed? Is it possible to check with a single command via SSH?

Thank you in advance

I'm afraid you should consult Synology forums.
I don't know anything about these devices.
BTW: isn't there a ready-made SABnzbd package for Synology?

Hello all,

Thank you internet connection is the one I installed.

For cons, I placed the order via SSH "openssl version" here is the feedback:
WARNING: can not open config file: / usr / syno / ssl / openssl.cnf
OpenSSL 1.0.0a 1 Apr 2010
Do I understand that it is installed in the correct directory to use SSL SABnzbd +?

Thank you for your reply in advance

Hello everyone,

Back to you to revive the topic because I did not answer. Also, I have done checks on my NAS.

To summarize, so I though SABnzbd + 0.5.4 installed with the package below and it works perfectly in SSL connection:
http://www.mertymade.com/syno/ SABnzbd + #

I could verify the presence of OpenSSL using the command "openssl version"
WARNING: can not open config file: / usr / syno / ssl / openssl.cnf
OpenSSL 1.0.0a 1 Apr 2010

I could check Python with the command "Python":
-Ash: python: not found

I just want your opinion on the proper functioning of encryption. SABnzbd + launches successfully, the connection in SSL mode works but perhaps not encrypted :(. OpenSSL is installed, it must be installed in a specific directory or find SABnzbd + without problem? Python must be installed for SSL?

Thank you in advance for your answers
