Quick question regarding downloading content. I have SABnzbd installed, looking to employ the RSS feeds using NZBMatrix which I seem to have done successfully, however I have been told that I can use this facility to automatically search not only for new NZB files, but also previous / past / already listed NZB files with my search wild cards which will be automatically located and downloaded - is this possible?

Check your connection in Status and Interface settings window.
Use Test Server in Config > Servers.
We will probably ask you to do a test using only basic settings. - Do you experience problems during repair or unpacking?
Enable +Debug logging in the Status and Interface settings window and share the relevant parts of the log here using [ code ] sections.

I am new to sabnzbd as well, but I think I get your question. If you "preview" the feed, you can select specific earlier items to download. Or click the "force download" to garb everything that matches in the feed.
