Specifying directories to external hard drive

I'm on a Mac and under 'Folders' I'm trying to link the in/complete directories to my external USB hard drive.  I've tried volumes/[hard_drive_name]/[folder_name] and click save, but it defaults back to the downloads folder when I refresh the folders page.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.    ;D

The external drives must be properly mounted before SABnzbd start.
