Speed issues with different network interfaces

Post by zirophyz »

Recently I installed Sabnzbdplus for OS X, however I configured it while I was away from my desk and connected to the internet with the computers wireless interface.  This works fine, and speeds are better than expected .. however .. when I'm at my desk I want to be connected via ethernet rather than wireless (for obvious speed and bandwidth reasons).  The problem is when I am connected with ethernet Sabnzbdplus' speeds are incredibly low (average ~ 7 kbyte/sec as opposed to ~ 550 kbyte/sec on wireless).  I am using version 0.3.4, Leopard, .app with default webUI.

The most I could find on the situation on these forums was to try changing the Host entry in the .ini to 0.0.0.0; but I am under the impression that that is relating to the IP to listen on for HTTP requests for the UI.

Any help would be great, as at the moment I am in the middle of consolidating a lot of data over to a server and it's pretty slooow with wireless ;-)

We do not support the OSX.app versions here.
Some forum members may be able to help you out.
I can only assume that it has to do with the routing within the computer.
I assume you have multiple interfaces (wired and wireless) and only one is
active at a time? If both are active, SABnzbd has no influence on which interface is used.

Also the web interface and the Usenet connection are not related and don't really
infuence each other.

You could try a later (beta) release. I think soemone has ported beta4 to an osx.app.

I thought it could have been a routing issue in OS X but then that would cause problems across the board when using different adapters.  Yes, I only use one adapter at a time.  I thought that as this was the adapter that the app was first used and configured on that that it had become bonded to that interface only ... however, again, if this were the case I would expect the app to not connect at all rather than just very slow speeds.

If you are determined enough to get this problem fixed, you could try to use the Python version.
Follow the instructions in the Wiki:
http://sabnzbd.wikidot.com/howto-osx-src

We are a bit handicapped in giving OSX support, since no-one in the core team uses it.
