TLS email error even with Gmail

Can't seem to get email notifications to work on SABnzbd 0.5.3 running on Debian linux.

Keep getting the error

ERROR:
Failed to initiate TLS connection

As suggested by a few other threads I've tried remtering my gmail details without much luck.

Any ideas? ???

Possibly a problem with the Python installation and/or its libraries.
It works OK on Windows and OSX and as far as I know also on Ubuntu.

I'm moving your question to the Linux board.

I used to have it working fine on my Mac but just not on this new Linux box running debain. Any suggestions on which Python libraries to try reinstalling?
