Check your connection in Status and Interface settings window.
Use Test Server in Config > Servers.

Why do some downloads fail?
I've had several downloads through SABnzbd show up in the completed folder in a folder beginning with _FAILED_, and their contents are still are bunch of .rars. I'm running Snow Leopard and often put my computer to sleep to transport it in the middle of some larger downloads. What are the most common causes for failed downloads? Any way to help prevent or salvage them?

Well, what kind of failure is it? Check the expanded history, it should tell you why it's failing. If it's CRC errors, see here. Other errors should be self explanatory (not enough pars, etc).
