Same server, multiple accounts

Post by JosevanDendermonde »

I have three accounts on the same newsserver. Because of the data limit I want to use all three and I want it to be automatic.
When I add the first account: everything is okay. But when I add another account on the same server (same address) the daa is written over de first account. I have looked into the INI file and I guess that the information is saved under the address of the server.
I have three times the same address so everytime it just overwrites instead of added a second and third account.

Can anybody tell me how I can use my three accounts on the same server?

Two "tricks":
For one of the servers use the numerical IP.

Most servers allow different port numbers (119, 80, 563 etc.)
Note that some of the these ports require you to use SSL.
Check your Usenet provider's help pages.

Thanks, going to try that!
But to be honest, won't it be more easy if you could name the server: "Payserver", "Payserver 2" f.e.?
Because I don't know if I can use other ports then 119 (have to wait till the other accounts have a reset data limit). Sounds easier to me. ;)

Someday we'll change the way it's done, but not now.
How many users of SABnzbd would actually have three
subscriptions with one Usenet provider?
Or even two.

I've come across this problem too.

Another way you can get around this problem is to just create an entry in your hosts file, and then you can map the server IP to absolutely any URL/address you want to.

The reason I like this method more than just using the IP address is that;

a) You still get a 'proper' looking address, so you can easily tell which server is which.  [Which can be handy if you're using a few different servers]
b) You can essentialy create an infinite number of 'aliases' for each server.

EG - news1.servername.com, news2.servername.com, etc
